WEAVE
Weave is the final translation of a series of drawings analyzing my great grandfather’s netting needle. The needle is used to hold and organize rope to make fishing nets. Tactile qualities of the tool are depicted in the texture of the wood and rope. The motion of the object in use is gestured in quick pencil strokes, and the path expressed by the exposed knot. The purpose is depicted in the formation of a net in the rope. The repetitive nature of forming a series of knots is assimilated in the object’s figure in the knot, and by two vantage points of the object.
